This Privacy Policy explains in detail how Rentr App collects, uses, stores, and shares personal information. By accessing or using the App, you acknowledge that you understand and accept the practices described in this document. This Policy outlines the responsibilities of users, the obligations of the App, and the conditions under which data is processed.

A user is defined as any individual who creates an account, browses listings, or interacts with services provided by the App. Personal information includes any data capable of identifying a user either directly or indirectly, such as names, contact details, or location data. Service providers are third‑party entities engaged to support core functions of the App, including payment processing, authentication, and mapping services.

2. Information We Collect

We collect personal details including your full name, phone number, email address, location, and a brief personal bio that helps build your profile. For payment‑related activities, we collect the phone number used for mobile money transactions and retain the associated records for up to seven days to support payment confirmation and dispute resolution. When you search for rental properties near your location, the App collects real‑time or approximate location data through Google Maps services to display accurate search results.

We also collect information from landlords and agents who submit property photos, property descriptions, specific property locations, and contact numbers for listing purposes. Estate agents may be required to submit NRC copies and professional certifications for verification. These documents are reviewed to confirm authenticity, after which they are not stored or archived in any form. All information collected is intended to improve service accuracy and promote trust among users.

3. Use of Information

We use personal information to create and maintain user accounts, manage profiles, and provide access to core features of the App. Your information enables property searches tailored to your location and supports accurate listing recommendations. We use verification details from agents to minimize fraudulent postings and protect users from misleading content. Payment information is used strictly for processing transactions through third party Payment providers.

We use your information to enhance the App’s reliability, improve user experience, and support technical performance. Customer support teams may access relevant information to address issues or assist with account‑related inquiries. The App may display non‑tracking advertisements that do not rely on personal data or behavioral insights. We use collected information only for the purposes described and within the legal boundaries applicable in Zambia.

4. Sharing of Information

Your personal information may be shared with service providers only when necessary to deliver specific functions. Payment providers receives your phone number solely for processing mobile money payments. Google Maps receives your real‑time or approximate location to support navigation and property search accuracy. Google and Facebook authentication systems receive your basic details for account login.

We do not sell, distribute, or transfer your personal information to advertisers, external marketers, or unrelated third parties. Information is shared only to the extent required for proper operation of the App and in accordance with data protection standards.

5. Data Retention

We retain your personal information while your account remains active to ensure that you can continue using the App without interruption. If your account remains inactive for two years, all associated personal information is permanently deleted from our systems. Payment‑related records are kept for a maximum of 21 days before they are automatically removed. Verification documents submitted by estate agents are reviewed and disposed of immediately after the verification process is completed.

You also have the right to delete your account at any time, which triggers the permanent removal of your data from our systems. All requests regarding personal information can be submitted through the support channels provided within the App. We aim to respond to such requests within a reasonable timeframe.

7. Security Measures

We apply a range of administrative, technical, and physical measures designed to safeguard your personal information. Data transmitted through the App is protected using encrypted connections. Sensitive information is accessible only to authorized personnel who require access to perform their duties.

These security measures are reviewed regularly to ensure they meet current industry standards and protect the integrity of user data.

8. Advertising

The App may display non‑tracking advertisements that do not rely on your personal information or browsing behavior outside the App. These ads are designed to maintain user privacy while supporting the sustainability of the platform.

9. Children’s Data

Rentr App is developed for individuals aged eighteen years and above. We do not knowingly collect or store information from minors. Any account identified as belonging to an underage user will be removed along with all associated data.

10. Geographic Scope

Rentr App is intended for users located within Zambia, and all data collection, storage, and processing activities are conducted with this geographic focus in mind. Users outside Zambia may not have full access to features or support.

We may update or modify this Privacy Policy when necessary to reflect changes in legal requirements, service features, or operational processes. Updated versions of the Policy will be published within the App. Continued use of the App after revisions indicates your acceptance of the updated terms.
